Aloha Friday…

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So on Fridays Kailani takes it easy on posting and just asks one question! So go link up and check out the other blogs that participate at An Island Life and ask your own question!

SO, while watching The Talk yesterday the ladies were discussing a doll Here is the YouTube video demonstrating how the doll works.

that “breastfeeds”… it comes with a halter top that has daisies where your breast should be for your child to wear and when the doll gets close to the daisies it makes sounds like it is eating??!!??!! I started looking up the doll on the internet… found it for sale on Amazon for $112.00 and then found two blog post on Thingamababy ~A dad’s eye-view of baby and toddler stuff …here is his first post on the doll and here is the second post (pretty funny stuff on the second)!!

**Personally I just thought this was crazy… I am all for breastfeeding but I think that this doll goes too far!! I have a daughter and I do not want her walking around with a halter top on and a doll attached to her boob! Seriously who think up this stuff! Again I am all for breastfeeding but have to agree with Leah Remini who said(not word for word) on the show that breastfeeding is for a mature fully developed adult woman not little girls playing! There is a time and place for things this to me is just too much!!**

My question for you is…

What do you think of this doll??

  1. Too funny! I would be tempted to take the batteries out permanently. Very annoying noises. I don’t have a problem with a little girl pretending she is nursing, but does she need the flowers? Lol. I really don’t go for the eating and pooping baby dolls either. I like soft (quiet) dolls where my daughter can use her imagination the best.

  2. What will they think of next!!! My daughter imitated me at times nursing with her doll but I think this doll goes a bit far. Crazy if you ask me.

  3. That has got to be one of the strangest dolls I’ve ever seen!

  4. I think this is just to weird! I fully support breast feeding, but let children be children for goodness sake! If a child is young enough to be playing with dolls she is to young to be be breast feeding, ick more I think about this the less I like it! Dread to think what they will come out with next!

  5. Sadly…a lot of the toys today leave little to a child’s imagination. Little girls will feed their baby dolls bottles and some will “nurse” them from the example of the “moms” in their life. My daughter did! Thirty years ago. ;D

  6. I’m not a fan of the doll – why do we need to push our kids into acting older than they are? Scary! :)

  7. I think it is over the top. My kids have pretended to nurse their baby when I had a nursing baby and that is fine they do not need the shirt and noises.

  8. ewwww, yea…don’t think I’d want a little girl nursing either!

  9. I would not purchase this doll. I don’t take issue with anyone breastfeeding but I think this is a bit much for a child with the flowers and such. I used to pretend as a child but I did not have anything fancy or odd like that.

  10. I don’t think I’d buy something like this for my daughter. Breastfeeding is a natural and beautiful thing and I think it’s also natural for little girls to model what they see with that. Still, I wouldn’t be buying her something that is life-like. Some things are best left to the imagination.

  11. I saw this on the news yesterday… it is quite controversial. I do think that it does have very annoying noises as well. But I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a little girl wanting to pretend she is nursing, just like Owen’s Mom said.

  12. I was all for breast feeding my kids and it worked for me. Breast feeding is not for everybody else. It’s like a lot of things in life.

    Have a great Friday!

  13. That’s weird. It almost makes me glad I don’t have a daughter!

  14. Breast feeding is a natural act and kids shouldn’t be told not to do it. I do think a halter top is inappropriate for little girls to be wearing that have flowers for boobies. Let kids be creative and use their imagination instead of us doing it for them.

  15. I agree with what was said that breastfeeding is for mature adults and this doll just goes too far.

  16. i think that is a little over the line…
    but that is just me…
    what is next?

  17. The noises are a bit far. I have no problem with girls pretending to breastfeed though. My kids play pretend all the time.. they don’t know anything about bottles.

  18. I agree that I would NOT let my daughter play with a doll like this and I also support breastfeeding!

Thanks for the follow! I am following back :)

I don’t have a FB page so cannot follow you back there but I am headed over to twitter to follow you there too :)

    Have a great weekend!

  19. I don’t think the idea of the doll is so terrible. Kids mimic their Mom’s all the time by breastfeeding their baby dolls and stuffed animals. I am sure my son will do this when he sees me breastfeeding the new babies.

That said, this product is terrible! The noises are annoying and the halter top with stripper daisies is too much. Thumbs down.
